food illness outbreaks dating back to 1990. They found that leafy
greens and some other popular foods are actually very unsafe.

Pathogens, such as salmonella and E. coli 0157:H7 typically associated
with meat and poultry have been repeatedly linked with outbreaks. In
addition, salmonella was the culprit in 33 percent of outbreaks involving
the foods in the report. Other pathogens causing outbreaks associated
with these foods include Campylobacter, Scombrotoxin, Norovirus and
Vibrio.
